On the Bio Star

"What is the Bio Star?"

The Bio Star is an institutional standard for biological excellence in products and places. It is awarded through evaluation against a published rubric — the 13-Circle Standard — by anonymous inspectors. There are three tiers: ★, ★★, and ★★★. Bio Stars are awarded sparingly and are not for sale.

"Who is behind the Bio Star?"

The Bio Star is held by an Editorial Council, whose members are named publicly, and an Inspector Corps, whose members remain anonymous. The institution is operated by Bio Star Holdings and does not publish founder names — by design, not by omission. The Standard is intended to outlast its founders.

"Why are inspectors anonymous?"

Anonymity is the structural guarantee of incorruptibility. Properties cannot prepare for an inspector they cannot identify. Brands cannot influence a process they cannot observe. The model is borrowed, transparently, from the most credible certification body of the last hundred years — the Michelin Guide.

"How is the Bio Star different from other wellness awards?"

Most wellness awards are issued by publications that also accept advertising from the brands they evaluate. Bio Star refuses every form of paid editorial relationship. The application fee covers the cost of evaluation; it does not predict the award. Brands that are not inducted pay nothing further. There is no advertising, no sponsored placement, and no influence pathway.

For Brands

"How does my brand apply?"

Application is made through the Apply page. The product application is tiered by submission window: Early ($599), Regular ($699), and Final ($799). Fees are non-refundable regardless of outcome. Spaces apply by self-nomination through the Editorial Council.

"What does a Bio Star cost after induction?"

Inducted brands enter an annual licensing agreement for the right to display the Bio-Starred seal. Fees scale with the tier of the award: $2,000 for one Bio Star, $4,000 for two, $8,000 for three, per year.

"What does the application include?"

Submission of product samples (three per item submitted), formulation documentation, sourcing provenance, and any published clinical or operational data. Inspection includes formulation review, structured user trial, and verification of claims. Inspection windows run six to twelve weeks.

"Can a Bio Star be revoked?"

Yes. The Editorial Council reserves the right to revoke an award if a brand's product, formulation, ownership, or material conduct changes such that the rubric is no longer satisfied. Revocation is rare, public, and final for the affected year.

For Readers

"Where do I read the inspector findings?"

The Star Report. Each Bio-Starred product receives a published case file: subject identification, the verdict, the 13-Circle assessment, and inspector notes. Findings are filed weekly during the inaugural year.

"What is Insider membership?"

Insider membership provides advance access to the Star Report, the unredacted Encounters from inspected spaces, and selected dispatches from the Editorial Council. Memberships open autumn MMXXVI.

"How do you make money if you refuse advertising?"

Application fees from brands seeking induction. Licensing fees from brands that have been inducted. Insider membership subscriptions from readers. Affiliate commissions on Bio-Starred products purchased through the Shop, which do not influence ratings and are disclosed in full.
